Take your diving to the next level with the SSI Advanced Open Water Diver program — certifying you to dive to 30 metres.

Designed with newly certified Open Water Divers in mind, this course lets you experience 5 specialty programs across 5 dives before committing to any single specialty. Build confidence, refine your skills and discover what advanced diver training can do for your underwater adventures.

Spend the weekend at the spectacular Tasman Peninsula and explore beneath the waves — discovering the dramatic flip side of Tasmania's rugged coastline. Over 5 dives you'll refine your buoyancy and navigation, explore deeper depths, experience night diving in Tasmania, and learn boat diving skills relevant anywhere in the world.

Course Outline | 2 Components | 2 Days | 5 Dives

  1. Digital Learning (Online Study): 5 supplementary academic sessions completed online at your own pace — this program is designed to be practically focused
  2. Ocean Dives: 5 dives across 2 days at the Tasman Peninsula

Day 1 Dives:

  • Perfect Buoyancy
  • Navigation (mandatory)
  • Night & Limited Visibility Diving (night diving Tasmania)

Day 2 Dives:

  • Deep Diving (mandatory — up to 30 metres)
  • Boat Diving

Prerequisites

  • SSI Open Water Diver certification or equivalent from a recognised training agency
  • Minimum age | 12 years old

The Advanced Open Water Diver course is the perfect opportunity to complete your SSI Enriched Air Nitrox certification. Learn dive planning, the benefits of enriched air and complete at least one dive on enriched air. Add Nitrox to your course for just $200 (save $49 on the standalone price of $249).

We have discounted packages on dive gear — available to Advanced Open Water Diver students only. Limited hire torches and dive computers are available on a first come, first served basis.

Medical Requirements

Scuba diving requires a minimum level of health and fitness. Chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgery may require you to get written approval from a physician before diving.

Please review the Diver Medical Form before enrolling in a scuba course. If you answer 'Yes' to any of the questions, you must see a doctor and present a dive medical/clearance to dive before we can accept you onto the course.
