Save a bundle when you book both your Tec 40 & 45!

With this private one-on-one course you'll received personalised instruction at your pace from our technical dive instructor.

Once you book on, we'll be in contact to organise the logistics and dates of the course that will fit around your schedule.

To enroll in the Tec 40 course, you must be:

  • A PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

  • A PADI Enriched Air Diver with at least 10 dives using enriched air deeper than 18 metres/60 feet

  • A PADI Deep Diver or proof of at least 10 dives to 30 metres/100 feet

  • At least 18 years old and have a minimum of 30 logged dives

The PADI Tec 45 course is the second part of the full PADI Tec Deep Diver program. You'll extend your depth limit to 45 metres/145 feet and learn to plan and execute repetitive decompression dives using a single stage/decompression cylinder. It puts you in a complete tec diving rig, which can be either backmount or sidemount. You'll also make accelerated decompression dives using EANx or pure oxygen. This is a course where you'll rise to the challenge and make the commitment to become a technical diver.

To enroll in the Tec 45 course, you must:

  • Be a PADI Tec 40 diver

  • Be a PADI Rescue Diver

  • Have a minimum of 50 logged dives, with at least 12 dives on enriched air nitrox deeper than 18 metres/60 feet and 6 dives deeper than 30 metres/100 feet

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Have a Medical Statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months

The Tec 40 & 45 Combo is two distinct courses that are part of the TecRec Deep program.

The PADI Tec 40 course is where you transition from recreational scuba diving to technical diving. It's a great place to start because it's the first subdivision of the full PADI Tec Diver course and bridges the gap between no stop diving and full technical deep decompression diving. You gain experience and begin building the knowledge and skills you need to continue your tec diver training. You will qualify to make limited decompression dives to 40 metres/130 feet.

PADI Tec 40 Dive Course

Consists of three knowledge development sections, three practical application sessions and four training dives. Designed for the diver transitioning from recreational diving to technical diving.

The first step PADI Tec Deep Diver course

If you’re interested in technical diving but haven’t yet met the prerequisites for the PADI Tec 50 Diver course or PADI Tec 45 course, you can consider enrolling in the PADI Tec 40 course. It is the first subdivision of the full PADI Tec Deep Diver course and consists of the first four dives.

What you will learn

  • Use decompression software and dive computers to plan and make decompression dives with no more than 10 minutes of total decompression and not deeper than 40 metres/130 feet.
  • Use a single cylinder of decompression gas with up to 50 per cent oxygen (EANx50) to add conservatism to the required decompression.

Since it’s part of the course, your PADI Tec 40 course training credits toward the PADI Tec 45 and Tec 50 courses.

The Learning Materials You’ll Need

You’ll use the Tec Deep Diver Crew-Pak, which introduces you to

  • tec diving lingo
  • emergency procedures
  • decompression and stage cylinder handling
  • gas planning

The pack includes a manual, dive planning checklist and dive planning slate. The optional Equipment Set-up and Key Skills video on DVD is a great tool to help you practice at home in between your tec diving adventures. You’ll continue to use the Tec Deep Diver Crew-Pak through Tec 50.

You use recreational scuba equipment, with some minor additions to enhance your ability to deal with tec diving conditions.

Gear You Will Require

The following is the equipment that is required for the Tec 40 Course

  • Air supply: Any of the following
  • Single tank with sling tank(can be hired and perfect for those who want to do basic deco diving)
  • or Sidemount configuration (can be hired)
  • or Back-mounted doubles with dual isolator manifold
  • Two complete regulators, one with a 2m hose for air sharing
  • O2 cleaned Stage/ deco cylinder with first & second stage regulator with spg
  • Two dive computers (can be hired)
  • Jon Line (where the local environment requires it)
  • SMB & whistle/audible signalling device
  • Reel
  • Lift Bag (or DSMB)
  • Exposure suit (appropriate for the environment)
  • Knife & backup
  • Slate
  • Compass

The PADI Tec 45 course is the second part of the full PADI Tec Deep Diver program. You'll extend your depth limit to 45 metres/145 feet and learn to plan and execute repetitive decompression dives using a single stage/decompression cylinder. It puts you in a complete tec diving rig, which can be either backmount or sidemount. You'll also make accelerated decompression dives using EANx or pure oxygen. This is a course where you'll rise to the challenge and make the commitment to become a technical diver.

The Tec 45 course picks up where Tec 40 leaves off and takes your training as a tec diver further and deeper. It is the second subcourse in the full PADI Tec Diver course
