Hideaway Island Resort

The Republic of Vanuatu is a chain of 83 tropical islands in the South West Pacific,  only a 2.5 to 3.5 hour flight from the east coast of Australia. It is an idyllic holiday destination for scuba divers, as well as travellers seeking a little adventure in paradise. Hideaway Island Resort and Marine Sanctuary is a small coral atoll that's about as close as you'll get to an unspoiled island paradise. Surrounded by clear turquoise water, coral reefs and fish, this Melanesian-style resort is the custodian of one of Vanuatu’s only marine sanctuaries. Coral reefs ideal for snorkelling or scuba diving right from the shore are home to thousands of ‘tame’ fish. 

There are many dive sites around Hideaway that are suitable for all levels of divers.  The waters are full of colourful sponges, hard corals, sea anemones, gorgonian fans and an amazing number of tropical fish. In addition to this two purpose sunk wrecks sit in around 25 metres of water. With consistently clear waters and prolific marine life,  Hideaway Island is one of the great dive areas of the South Pacific.  

Hideaway Island is also home to the world’s only Underwater Post Office. The underwater post office is situated within the Hideaway Island marine sanctuary in approximately 3 metres of water. Its proximity to the beach makes it easy for swimmers and snorkelers to post special “waterproof postcards”.
