Sharpen your offshore skills, with this essential specialty for any diver serious about exploring what Tasmania's coastline has to offer.

Some of Tasmania's most spectacular dive sites are only accessible by boat — and knowing how to dive from a vessel confidently opens up a whole new world of underwater exploration. The SSI Boat Diver specialty program teaches you everything you need to dive safely and comfortably from any type of boat, anywhere in the world.

We have safety sausages (SMBs) available for use during your course — however we strongly recommend purchasing your own DSMB & reel. Being able to deploy your own DSMB confidently is a critical offshore diving skill, and practicing with your own equipment during the course means you'll be ready to use it every time you dive. Your instructor can help you choose the right setup.

At Tas Divers we believe in small group sizes guaranteed. Please carefully review all conditions before booking.

Medical Requirements

Scuba diving requires a minimum level of health and fitness. Chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgery may require you to get written approval from a physician before diving.

Please review the Diver Medical Form before enrolling in a scuba course. If you answer 'Yes' to any of the questions, you must see a doctor and present a dive medical/clearance to dive before we can accept you onto the course.
