You could spend hours learning underwater photography through trial and error, or you can take a shortcut. Learn professional tips and tricks for taking great photos underwater and the best way to capture video while scuba diving with a GoPro (or other action camera).

Course Outline - 3 Components | 3 days (over 2 weekends)

  1. Knowledge Development (Online Study): Understanding the basic principles
  2. Ocean Dives: During two dives in the ocean, you'll get hands-on experience taking photos

Topics Covered:

  • SEA method (Shoot, Examine, Adjust)
  • Choosing the right camera system & understanding your camera's settings
  • Principles of good composition underwater (framing, subject placement, shutter speed, aperature)
  • Using available light or artificial light
  • Buoyancy control for safe & stable photography
  • Protecting marine life & environment

  • Transport - you will need to be able to transport your dive equipment (including tanks) for the duration of the course

Please note: we do NOT provide camera equipment. You must bring your own camera set-up and we will help you understand it & adjust settings for optimal results underwater.

Every PADI Specialty certification you earn gets you one step closer to becoming a Master Scuba Diver. This elite rating is achieved by only 2% of divers.

Scuba diving requires a minimum level of health and fitness. Chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgery may require you to get written approval from a physician before diving.

Please review the Diver Medical Form before enrolling in a scuba course. If you answer 'Yes' to any of the questions, you must see a doctor and present a dive medical/clearance to dive before we can accept you onto the course.
