About the event

Come along for a dive in George Town on The Avon!

The Tamar has some spectacular diving, but please remember visibility is typically poor and there will be current present. As with all Tamar dives, we require you carry an SMB & torch throughout the dive.

The Avon is a tugboat that was abandoned in York Cove after running aground at Low Head in 2012 and ended up taking in water and sinking. It now rests at around 17-18m deep and makes for a great local shore dive.

Location: York Cove

Parking in the street at either the northern end of Esplanade S, George Town or the corner of Ferry Boulevard / Adelaide Street

Meeting at 11.15am

Briefing at 11.45am

Entering the water by 12pm

Scuba Gear: BYO. Equipment hire is available from Tasmanian Divers during business hours.
